FigureBetter is an independent personal-finance site. We build calculators that answer a question the moment you land, guides that explain the math behind them, and a live markets dashboard that pulls rates, filings, and prices straight from primary sources. There’s no account to create, no paywall, and nothing to install.

The goal is simple: take the decisions people find stressful — a mortgage, a payoff plan, a first investment, a trade’s position size — and make the number in front of you trustworthy enough to act on.

What we stand for

Our editorial approach

Guides are written to be understood, not to pad a word count. Each one cites its primary sources, shows the formula it’s built on, and carries the date it was last reviewed. Where a calculator makes an assumption — a compounding convention, a rounding rule — we say so on the page. Nothing here is personalized financial, investment, tax, or legal advice; it’s information to help you think, and big decisions are worth talking through with a qualified professional.

Corrections

If a number looks wrong, it might be — and we want to know. We correct confirmed errors quickly and update the page’s review date when we do. Email info@figurebetter.com with the page and what looks off.

Who’s behind it

Roland Balabekyan. Software quality engineer, and the person who builds and maintains FigureBetter. The engine behind every calculator here is a pure function under unit test — over a thousand tests on the engines alone — and every page shows the formula it used and the source it came from. I build it because markets and personal finance genuinely interest me, and because most people are asked to make decisions about money with no way to check the arithmetic behind them. Nothing here is financial advice; it is education. Understanding how a number is produced is a real part of making a good decision with it, and what this site claims is only that the math is right and that you can check it — which is what I do for a living.

LinkedIn

FigureBetter is built and maintained independently — no outside investors, no advertiser shaping the math. That independence is the point: the numbers answer to you, not to anyone paying to change them.

For how the calculations are produced and tested — and what this site explicitly does not claim — see the methodology page.
