Home & Construction Calculators

Material calculators are the ones where being wrong costs money on the same day. Order concrete short and the pour has a cold joint through it; order long and you pay for what goes back on the truck.

So these lean deliberately conservative and say where the padding is. Bag counts round up, because two-thirds of a bag is not a thing you can buy. Waste allowances are shown as a separate line rather than folded into the total, so you can argue with the percentage. Where a trade convention exists — roofing sold by the square, drywall by the sheet, aggregate by the ton rather than the yard — the answer is given in the unit the supplier will actually quote.
