This policy explains what FigureBetter (“we”) does and doesn’t do with data when you use figurebetter.com. It’s written to be read, not to hide behind legalese.
What we don’t collect
- No account. There’s nothing to sign up for, so we don’t hold a profile, password, or history for you.
- No calculator inputs. The numbers you enter into a calculator are processed in your browser to show the result. They are not sent to our servers, saved, or shared.
- No selling data. We don’t sell, rent, or trade personal information. There is no ad-tech profile of you here.
What’s stored on your device
A few features remember your choices using your browser’s local storage — for example, the watchlist you build on the Markets page. That information lives in your browser on your device, isn’t transmitted to us, and you can remove it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
Information handled automatically
Like almost every website, our hosting provider processes basic technical request data (such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of a request) to serve pages, keep the site secure, and diagnose problems. This is standard server operation and isn’t linked to anything you calculate.
Market data and third parties
When you open the Markets pages, our server fetches data from third-party providers and passes the results to your browser. Your browser talks to us, not directly to them, so those providers don’t receive your information through FigureBetter. When you click an outbound link (say, to read a filing on SEC.gov), that site’s own privacy policy applies.
Email & newsletter
If we offer a newsletter and you choose to subscribe, we’ll use the email address you give us only to send that newsletter, handled through a third-party email provider. You can unsubscribe from any issue. We don’t add you to anything you didn’t ask for.
Analytics, ads & cookies
We show ads through Google AdSense to keep the site free. Google and its partners may set cookies and use device identifiers to select and measure ads, including across other sites you visit — that is how ad networks work, and we won’t pretend otherwise. What we don’t do is give them anything you type: calculator inputs never leave your browser, so there is nothing on our side to share. You can review and change what Google uses at adssettings.google.com, and Google’s own handling is described in its partner sites policy.
We do use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages people find useful. It sets no cookies and stores no identifier that could follow you to another site — it records the page you viewed, the site that linked you here, and coarse details like country and device type, aggregated. It is never tied to the values you enter into a calculator: those stay in your browser and are never sent to us, so there is nothing on our side to connect them to.
Your choices
Because we don’t hold an account or your inputs, most control sits with you: clearing this site’s data in your browser removes anything stored locally. Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA may give you rights to access or delete personal data a business holds about you. If you believe we hold anything about you and want to exercise those rights, email us and we’ll help.
Children
FigureBetter is a general-audience finance tool and isn’t directed to children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top. Material changes will be clearly noted.
